Overview of role:

We are seeking a Product Owner reporting into our Guest Experience team. This individual should exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoy challenges and be results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment. Working alongside the Product Manager the Product Owner will be the champion of mobile best practices and channel performance.

The Product Owner is savvy with mobile apps and is passionate about improving the experience on the iOS and Android apps. As the Product Owner you will be responsible for defining the product’s capabilities and features based on the product’s overall vision and support the delivery of the product roadmap.  This is a product ownership role with growth opportunities into Product Management! You will be responsible to set targets, perform trend analysis and report on performance. In addition, this member will define product roadmaps by conducting market research and providing analytic insights of their current and future products. This opportunity will build and cultivate relationships outside their team including partners, internal stakeholders, and team members across the Digital team including, but not limited to, Digital analytics, User Research, Design and Technology delivery teams.

Key deliverables include:

  • Writing user stories, creating and prioritizing features within the product backlog
  • Provide day to day support on the implementation of large-scale projects
  • Defining key metrics for mobile initiatives and projections/estimated impact, while serving as a champion for mobile channel performance
  • Research, recommend and lead implementation, where applicable, and suggest enhancements based on the analysis of competitive digital channels and industry trends
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support and deliver mobile initiatives
  • Influence and assist on strategic vision for WestJet through assigned digital touch points
  • Provide analysis and implementation recommendations for all mobile enhancements
  • Proactively present key digital reports to stakeholders, and outline recommendations
  • Knowledge, advocation and delivery of brand tone and digital styling across all digital touch points

Experience and qualifications:

  • Recognized Diploma at a College/Technical School or Bachelor’s Degree (Technical/Business/Science)
  • Mandatory experience managing iOS and Android mobile application with a large consumer footprint
  • Experience working in digital or emerging technology preferred
  • Working/Advanced knowledge of mobile applications and services development
  • Advanced knowledge in the following practice’s:
  • Mobile
  • Principles of target markets and customer segments
  • User Experience within responsive design and mobile apps
  • SCRUM/Agile Development
  • Digital commerce in the travel industry or other e-commerce industries
  • Project management
  • Knowledge supporting Flutter apps is an asset
